The area of the Greater Manaus region is 127,287,789 square kilometers. It is the largest metropolitan area in Brazil, which is larger than the area of some Brazilian states such as Pernambuco, Santa Catarina and Rio de Janeiro (more than twice as large as the latter) and is approximately the same size as some countries, ) for example Iceland (103,000 km²) and South Korea (99,538 km²), and larger than countries like Hungary (93,032 km²) and Portugal (92,391 km²).
