Map of Northern Asia
Map of Northern Asia.
North Asia is one of the six regions that, according to the UN classification, make up the Asian continent. It is formed by the Asian part of Russia, and its largest city is Novosibirsk. It is located, as the name suggests, in the north of the continent, bounded on the north by the Arctic Ocean, on the east by the Bering Strait, which separates it from North America, and the Pacific Ocean, on the south by East Asia and Central Asia, and to the west with the Ural mountains, which separate it from the European part of Russia. With 38 million pop. in 2013, it is the least populated region of the six, with 13 138 242 km², the most extensive, and, therefore, the least densely populated with 2.9/km². Map 1921.
